CasaPound Naples: The Story of the Materdei Occupation and the Fight for the Future
On September 12, 2009, the very young core of CasaPound Italia Naples occupied a monastery in Materdei—an unthinkable act at the time, in a city as left-leaning as Naples.
The occupation lasted three months, three months of intense political attacks, assaults, and left-wing hysteria. Only a massive operation by hundreds of riot police ended the project.
After some wandering, the CasaPound community found shelter in the Berta Section, bringing in the generational renewal that was crucial for the continuation of this ideal community, which persists to this day.
Our thoughts go out to those who, after 15 years, are still on this side of the barricade, to those who continue to fight, to those who are paying for their ideas.
Never surrender. Instead, keep moving forward, and even further.
